Reading and writing on your phone

The bundled Berean Standard Bible and device-only journal work offline. Device-only writing stays on that installation. Clearing app data or uninstalling can permanently remove writing that has not synced. Export text or JSON copies you need to keep.

Optional account sync

Firebase Authentication processes your email address, password authentication and verification/recovery messages. Chosen Path’s Cloudflare service stores the writing and revision history, highlights and reading position you choose to sync, together with internal ownership and sync records. Existing device writing is imported only after your explicit choice. Network connections use HTTPS. This is not end-to-end encryption.

Website accounts and downloads

The website stores an opaque 30-minute session, hashed download tickets and an app-service authorization grant. It does not store your Firebase password, provider refresh token or journal text. Downloads recheck account status. Signing out revokes that website session and its links. Expired session metadata is cleaned on a scheduled basis.

Optional news

If you opt in, the website stores your email, consent wording, version and date separately from journal data. Withdraw consent on the download page. Linked account deletion removes this permission through scheduled cleanup, and the maximum retention is 24 months without renewed consent. Marketing email delivery is not yet automated.

Retention, export and deletion

Account writing remains until you remove it or delete the account. Source deletion hides removed journal content; retained synchronization identifiers prevent old devices from restoring deleted records. Account deletion immediately revokes account access, then removes synced free-app data and Firebase sign-in through retryable cleanup. A private deletion-status receipt works for 30 days. Export files, downloaded APKs, device-only entries and offline copies on other installations remain under your control and must be removed separately.

Providers and limitations

Cloudflare and Google process service and account data and may process it internationally. No AI processing, advertising pixels or marketing analytics are enabled in this release. Provider infrastructure may retain security and operational records under its own policies. Full backup/restore and deletion recovery rehearsals remain outstanding; keep an independent export of important writing.
